The biking directions were excellent, allowing us to easily navigate the winding streets of villages. Sarah was very responsive to any questions we had, whether by email before the trip, or by phone when we were in-country. The accommodations and restaurants she lined up were just right, and we especially enjoyed the dinner at Le Tourrel in St. Remy.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the self-guided bicycle tour along the Loire valley. The well chosen hotels had friendly staff, the included dinners were excellent, and the hybrid bicycles were well maintained and more suitable than some of the other bicycles we saw. The maps and route instructions were accurate with enough detail that we couldnt be bothered with the suggested GPS app that I had previously downloaded to my phone. Sarah gladly helped us consider customizations and was readily available to deal with contingencies like our train being cancelled. Cecile, the tour manager, was very friendly, adjusting the bikes for fit and providing recommendations for restaurants, lunch stops and sites from her personal experience. We highly recommend Detours in France and expect to use them again in our next cycling tour in France.

Not only were the people of France warm and gracious, but the villages and countryside were gorgeous. And of course the food was excellent. Sarah guided us through everything and was always availble to help if we needed a question answered. Cecile was a delight to deal with during our first day in France and helped us get settled in with our bikes and maps and her personal insights were wonderful. Detours in France organized an absolutely wonderful and memorable trip for us. It was a pleasure working with Sarah, who was always very responsive. Everything went flawlessly. The hotels, taxis, and meals were excellent. The walking directions were very precise. And of course, the setting of Alsace was unbelievably beautiful. The walks were carefully chosen to cover some of the best that Alsace has to offer - vineyards, picture perfect villages, and rolling hills. The food and wine along the way were excellent. Would highly recommend Detours and the Alsace tour!
We had a fantastic time cycling through Burgundy with Detours. The hotels were both excellent with perfect locations. Nice breakfasts and friendly staff. We also loved the routes. We felt like we got a great representation of Burgundy as well as variety of landscapes and vineyards. The written instructions were excellent and we loved the descriptions of the buildings we passed and the historical significance. We also really liked the walking tour of Beaune provided as well as the evening light show. The bikes are fantastic. Totally reliable, well fitting and in excellent clean condition. First rate! we also appreciated the restaurants and especially loved that they knew who we were and how friendly they were to us. As far as we are concerned, on the next trip we will book with Detours ( hopefully next summer) ask them to reserve all of our meals. We also met really nice people dining at every restaurant and had lots of lively conversation. Riding with GPS. Once you get the hang of the software and turned off all data it works great. One of us kept the written instructions visible in the pannier and the other had the app open in a back pocket and the map of the route on the pannier so between the two of us we were able to navigate well.
